Job applicants and emails.

Since I’ve been reviewing resumes for our organization’s new receptionist/office assistant, I’ve come across quite a few interesting email addresses used by applicants.

I think I’ve bitched before about people who use unprofessional email addresses. As easy as it is sign up for free accounts with the likes of GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc., there’s just no excuse (in my opinion) to conduct a job search with the likes of these:

shortyhiggy(@email-host.com)
hotlatina498

and my two latest favorites:

poodyman
versoboy

Not one to discriminate, I still reviewed these resumes but thankfully they weren’t from people we’d consider for the position.

That’s why I have two email addresses, one “professional” one for job applications, school etc. and one “unprofessional” one for crap :P

I just don’t understand people who have names like that for business related purposes. When I’m applying or dealing with anything work related of course I’m not going to use vonilicious[at]gmail.com it’s just common sense. *facepalm*

Ouch, poodyman is pretty awful :gross: With so many free email services, you’d think people would have the sense to sign up for a professional sounding address on top of their everyday-use one to use on things like resumes but evidently not…

That is hilarious  but I do completely agree that it isn’t too hard to sign up for a new address. :whoa: Good luck with finding someone to fll the position!

Most people don’t rush out to create ‘professional’ emails, chances are they may still be using something they created so many years ago-it’s annoying to have to make new email and fwd a new to all your address books.
I don’t think a person’s email should even be an issue when reviewing a resume, but of course that is an opinion

Risa - while I respect that you are entitled to your personal opinion, I’m not talking about creating an entirely new account for ALL emails. I’m referring to creating one strictly for job searches. If you have an email address similar to the ones above, be sure to come back to my blog and let me know how many responses you actually get to your job applications when you actually enter the professional world. You didn’t post a link to your own blog, but something tells me you’re still young and a little wet behind the ears.

I agree with you. It just sends an unprofessional message to the receiver. I created a seperate one specfically for things like that.

LMAO, wow, some people are so funny. Why in the world would you use those e-mail addresses if you’re seriously looking for a job. Wow. Thanks for the laugh!

some people just don’t know the tips that can help them get the jobs that they’re looking for or that they want… which is the bad part. I used a personal email for a while until I realized that it wasn’t professional enough, so then I created a new one. ^_^
