I am…
updated October 10, 2007
Ok, you’re probably not really that curious to know more about me, but since you’re here, I’ll entertain you with some useless information that you won’t remember once you’ve surfed away from this page.
My name is Amber, and though I don’t really look or act like the typical Amber you may encounter, I do like my name. Upon first meeting me, many people bad with names tend to address me as “Heather” or “Amanda,” which always amuses me. I am 30, which makes me old and decrepit to the majority of bloggers out there. I’ve always felt I was an “old soul,” hence my choice of domain and blog name; yet on other levels I still feel young and naive and always carry the realization with me I have much more to learn before my time is up. I currently reside in Washington, D.C., quite definitively one of the best cities on this planet. I love this city, except during the winter months when my ass inevitably finds itself smacking into the pavement as I slide on a patch of black ice every year.
Other potentially noteworthy things about me:
I’m an aspiring Buddhist. And I really do mean aspiring. Being in the present moment and not getting attached to people or situations is a lot harder to accomplish than you may think. I have succeeded a number of times though I still fall back to old patterns from time to time. The journey thus far has been a struggle, but definitely an enlightening one.
I’m a homosexual. A lesbian. A queer. A dyke. Yes, I like women. A lot. If you are offended or angered by that, you are perfectly entitled to feel such…and I am perfectly entitled to say, “fuck off.” Nothing more to add to that, really. *grin*
At this point, it may go without mentioning I’m a very direct and honest individual - which is a complete 180 degree turn from who I was just five years ago. This change has been both a blessing and a curse at times, because I’ve found not a lot of people can appreciate bluntness. Those who can are already my best friends or will easily earn the title. Don’t get me wrong, I can be tactful, I just usually choose not to be.
As most likely with everyone else in this world, this blog is simply my space to express myself. If I give my readers a reason to smile and/or laugh, I have accomplished what I set forth to do.

Hey there! I was just going through and noticed I was on your blogroll. At the risk of sounding rather dumb… what is this blogroll thing?

Hi, Jenn. I found your blog through wordpress.com and after perusing a few posts felt I wanted to continue visiting, which led to me adding you. A blogroll is basically a list of other blogs you visit regularly.
If you’d rather I remove you, please let me know. I certainly wasn’t intending to step on any toes.

Aw, I don’t think 30 is an old and decrepit age for bloggers!
I have a blog on vox, and I think most people there are between 30 and 100. I feel like a baby when I surf around there.
